The “Arkadağ Smart City” project, which was started two years ago on an area of 1002 hectares in Ahal province, 25 kilometers from Ashgabat International Airport in Turkmenistan, was introduced at a press conference organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Bucharest.

Turkmenistan Ambassador to Bucharest Annamammet Annayev made a presentation about Arkadag smart city at the press conference and answered the questions of the press members.

Here is the Arkadag smart city project:

“Arkadag” is a city that is the administrative center of Turkmenistan’s Ahal province, a suburb of Ashgabat, and classified as a city with etrap rights. The new Arkadag city is located in a picturesque place at the foot of the Kopetdag mountain range, surrounded by gardens and forest plantations, which positively affects the ecological and climatic condition of the city. When choosing a construction site, many factors were taken into account, such as natural, climatic, seismic, availability of engineering infrastructure and others.

According to the instructions of the head of state, the presented projects of the buildings and structures that are under construction or planned to be built and the schemes of their locations were prepared. The large-scale construction work that emerged here combines principles of national architecture and best practices in urban planning. Arkadag city covers a total area of 1002 hectares and is designed for 64 thousand people. Construction of the city began 2 years ago. A total of 471 buildings for various purposes will be built in the city, 368 of which are residences.

Within the scope of the 1st phase, which is about to come to an end, the construction of 336 buildings, 258 of which are residences, is being completed. In the second phase, there will be a total of 135 buildings, 110 of which are residences. The new administrative center of Ahal province will be a model for both urban culture and ecology to preserve the natural beauty of the construction site. As everywhere else, attention is paid to the implementation of the concept of “smart” city. It should be noted that the concept of the “smart” city is based on the integration of advanced information and communication technologies, creating a single ecosystem that provides the management of urban structures and services, improving the quality of life of the population.

In Arkadag, buildings belonging to municipalities and public institutions, flagpole, Ahal monument, Ahal equestrian circus, Horse Breeding Research and Production Center, Ruhyet Palace, library, theater theatre, museum, 6 different health facilities, international horse breeding higher education institution, 4 secondary school, 4 secondary vocational schools, 10 kindergartens, multidisciplinary sports complex, sports center and stadium. Within the scope of the first phase, 258 residences with two, five, seven and nine floors, 19 shops, 3 Life Houses, a hotel, a shopping and entertainment center and a recreation area are being built.

At the second stage, it is planned to build a complex of two-story residential buildings, parking areas, lines of modern communication systems, as well as to introduce software for electronic transmission of traffic statistics. Information solutions including e-school system, electronic library and online exam system will be introduced in all educational institutions of the city. Internal networks with a total length of 259 kilometers will be laid.

By connecting each house and institution with a fiber optic network, it will be possible to use high-speed internet, IP TV and telephone systems simultaneously. In addition, a number of 4G devices have been installed and commissioned to provide high-quality cellular services, enabling the use of 3G and high-speed Internet. A 24-hour smart video monitoring system will be installed for the accounting of drinking water and natural gas consumption, as well as security in residences, institutions, streets and roads.

One of the issues we pay attention to when it comes to ecology in the city of Arkadağ, which is connected to the Ahal province, is the road and infrastructure infrastructure. During the construction of roads, equipment and materials are used that help the relevant services to ensure safety, environmental friendliness and comfortable living. The Center will operate an Internet network and portals in various fields, which will ensure the availability of a modern communication system for all.

It is planned to launch electric buses and electric taxis on the territory of the new city. In this context, a digital system will be brought to work in order to increase the efficiency of traffic lights and bus stops. All this, providing a well-coordinated traffic, will provide high-quality services to residents and guests of the city.

Even a partial switch to electric transport combined with the use of the Intelligent Traffic Light system will allow drivers to reduce travel time and avoid traffic jams.

The system, which reduces the number of harmful substances released into the atmosphere, will positively affect the ecological situation.
